5-min refried beans!

I’m running out of food in my house so I had to be crafty to make something tasty for lunch

You’ll need:

a small saucepan
a bowl
some sort of potato masher (I improvised with a beer bottle)

1/2 an onion, diced
few cloves of garlic, diced
spoonful of chili powder
a bit of cumin
soy sauce/braggs/shoyu
can of beans (pinto, black beans, whatever you got)
veggie oil

Okay so heat up your sauce pan with some oil. Once it’s nice and hot add in everything except the soy sauce and beans. Fry that up with a lid for 5 minutes. While this is happening rinse and mash up your can of beans in a bowl with your weapon of choice. You might want to add a bit of water to make it more pastey. Then add that to your pan which should smell amazing by now and add some soy sauce to taste.

Cool add ins:
diced bell pepper
salsa
daiya shredded “cheese”

Serve over rice or on tortillas or however you please.

  • silverliningrunnerI recently got a blender, do you have any good smoothie recipes I should try?
  • annabanana-1

Hey lovely! I hope you don’t mind me posting this publicly incase anyone else is interested :)

    • 6-8 bananas, 500ml or so of water, spinach and a couple of dates
    • 3-4 bananas, 1/2 cup of coconut milk, coconut sugar and raspberries
    • 1/2 cup of raspberries, 1/2 cup of blueberries, 1/2 cup of blackberries, a couple of bananas, 1 cup of non-dairy milk, coconut sugar
    • 3-5 bananas, a couple of spoons of PB, dates, almond milk/coconut milk
    • A few big chunks of rock melon, a mango, 2 bananas, 1.5 cups of coconut water
    • Not a smoothie - more like a juice, but watermelon and mint together in a blender is amazing

I have most of those as actual meals with something else generally, you can make them smaller if it’s a snack :)

for the smoothie person I personally would start with smaller banana smoothies if you havent had them before. I got extremely bloated and had really bad stomach aches eating big smoothies all at once, so I added another banana every so often and worked my body up to it :)

  • penmurdererHi! I just saw a picture of your fruit haul and I have to ask...how long does the fruit last? Do you do something to preserve it? Or do you eat it all in a week?
  • Hello! :)

When I was eating raw that would probably last me about a week. It takes about 3 days for the bananas to be ripe enough to eat and they will last about another 3 or 4. Whatever I didn’t eat I would freeze and use to make ice cream or put them in my smoothies. I would eat a whole watermelon for a meal- which usually worked out to 1000 calories. Everything else would be eaten within the week along with lots of greens in salads or in my smoothies and also dates which aren’t in any of my fruit haul photos because I buy them in bulk and they last forever haha! Anything I don’t end up eating I freeze just before it goes bad and then they will get used in smoothies. You can even do it with your greens!

I hope I was able to answer everything. And thanks for asking! :D
